Artenglück – Happiness of the species

Nature conservation, CSR and carbon compensation projects

We help companies to start and expand their nature conservation and corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives.

What Artenglück does

Artenglück [aːɐ̯tn̩ɡlʏk] in German means “happiness of the species”. Founded in September 2020 in Germany, we aim to act globally as well as locally.

Our mission is to promote biodiversity and climate neutrality

At Artenglück, we plant flowering meadows on private land, reforest at declining woods, rebuild the local insect population, restore moors, and protect endangered birds – to enhance biodiversity and capture carbon!

WE ARE GOING GLOBAL

Starting in Germany in September 2020, we are by now implementing conservation projects in Europe and are implementing our first USA-based activities by 2023.

Nature conservation and CSR actions

Natural areas in the United States are disappearing at an alarming rate of one football field every third minute. As a result, natural areas serving as a carbon sink are declining. There are numerous steps that can be taken to address this. A single step can lift up a whole ecosystem because nature is a complex system interconnected with each other.

So, why meadows?

  • Grasslands and meadows can store up to 3 tonnes per hectare which is 1.6 times more than trees.
  • Native meadows not only add colour and beauty but also play an incredible role in supporting our food production by hosting pollinators such as wild bees. Estimates by Michigan University show that in less than a decade there has been a decline of 23% of wild bees across the US. To put it simply, no pollinators – no food.
  • Improved groundwater levels. Flower meadows increase water filtration as they have deeper roots.
  • Meadows grow best on less fertile land. Not only do meadows put them to practical use, but they also enrich them over time.
  • Supporting wildlife and birds

Christoph Brack

-Continental-

Since MalinaStories was founded, flowers, birds, and nature have always been very significant themes. After all, nature has a positive effect on the well-being of people. And we love to rediscover old things, to use them again and again or to reinvent them. That’s where Artenglück’s seedball machine fits right in. From our store, we notice how customers and passersby discover the vending machines they remember from their childhood, and it brings a smile to their faces. Or the wide-eyed children stretching to toss a coin in and anxiously waiting to see what comes out. There is a lot of curiosity here, and the Seedballs are a great alternative to the chewing gum of the past: to make your own city greener and livelier, and also to bring attention to the project of Artenglück. We are very happy to be in contact with Lara, Felix and Christoph, who are so passionate about biodiversity. Thank you for making a difference.

People always talk about it, but when it comes to actually doing something, there is usually a lack of commitment. Thank you for bringing Artenglück to life.
